Inconsequential
chatter you may or

It may seem like I am
cheap, making my
own glitter gel, but
actually I'm really not
(my bank account
will vouch for me)!

I started making my
own things because
I couldn't find what
I wanted in stores
or online.

Also, when I started
out face painting, I
didn't know anything
and decided to make
my own "safe" glitter
gel that I could trust.

Making your own,
you have a lot of
choice on color
as well.
Interesting Bits - Make your own glitter gel.
Things you will need:

  •       aloe vera gel
  •       cosmetic grade glitter
  •       squeeze bottle
  •       spoon

Step 1        Squeeze aloe vera gel into squeeze bottle,
about 2 thirds full.  (You can find empty
bottles in the glue aisle at craft stores.)

Step 2         Fill the rest up with glitter color of your
choice.  Make sure there is enough room
in the bottle to be able to mix.  Use the end
of the spoon to mix the aloe and glitter
together.

Step 3        Make sure you have a cap for the bottle,
otherwise it will dry and clog really easily.

Also, I've noticed on very hot days, the gel tends to
expand and explode (kind of like opening a yogurt).
I've ruined a good pair of pants and new tennis shoes
    that way - stand clear!
This is an example of using glitter
gel.  It is easier to place large
amounts of "sparkle" as on the
"teardrops" on the butterfly's wings
than using loose glitter.  Glitter gel
does  tend to get stiff when it dries,
so you should still apply it sparingly
and not too thick.
